Sophie works closely with our Executive Director to deliver the Foundation’s activities, partnerships and outputs, with a special focus on the story-telling aspects of our work.
Joining us from a career in media and environment communication, she studied for an MSc in Sustainable Development; focusing her research on Arctic shipping and mitigating the impact of vessel traffic on marine life.
Sophie has worked on expeditions and assignments worldwide. In 2019 she sailed with a specialist crew in Arctic Norway to document sperm whale research, which kickstarted a fascination with the region. Her photography has been published by National Geographic, The Times, The Guardian, Oceanographic, WWF Arctic and shortlisted by the Royal Academy. In 2020 her team was awarded the RGS Land Rover expedition bursary.
